Stream restoration at Linford Bottom

A morning walk at Linford Bottom, taking a little look at the ongoing work being undertaken to restore one of the streams feeding into Linford Brook.

The stream coming down through Pinnick Wood is sick and a team of experts are restoring it to encourage the health of the stream and the surrounding wetland habitats.  The massive earthmoving equipment requires us walkers to avoid a lot of the areas around the works

Over time, the course of the stream has been straightened and now, using ancient maps of the area, they are returning the course of the stream to its original more winding nature. Here, you can see where the old course of the stream has been filled in
