New Forest Show – New Park Brockenhurst

A very hot and sunny day at the three day New Forest Show.
Old country craft with a slightly confusing introductory sign!
An old machine for bundling reeds for thatching.
Next to it, an old fashioned straw baling machine.
Sign making using the New Forest Pony brands. I’ve been after one of these for ages, so we had a sign made for our house. We have rather a long house name, so had to choose two pieces of birch wood to fit it all in!
It was a very hot day and these poor chaps were working hard to keep up with demand. Given they were working with hot irons constantly it must have been hot and back-breaking work.
Lots of lively events in the main arena. The parade of large horse drawn vehicles was fantastic, the highlight for me this wonderful old wild west Wells Fargo coach drawn by six beautiful horses.
A close up of one of the lead horses of the Wells Fargo coach. This was taken as they were winning the overall competition for horse drawn vehicles.
The afternoon was topped off by an amazing display of horsemanship by the Devils Horsemen. Stars of many films and TV shows as stunt doubles and horse trainers – we may not recognise them, but they’re always there. Here, three of the troupe dash around the arena standing on two horses apiece!
A more pastoral scene, bundles of little pink piglets playing – what a delight!.
One of the adults – how do they see with those huge ears over their eyes?
A tired and happy Harry resting in the car at the end of the day. Did I say resting? I’m sure that face says – what now?
I'd love to hear from you...
