Clouds and sundogs
Tuesday, April 13th, 2010
Only a few photos for today of cirrus clouds, sundogs and contrails.
“A sundog is a patch of light at the same elevation of the Sun, and appears a distance away from it of about the span of an outstretched hand held at arms length. It has a reddish edge towards the Sun and a bluish-white tail away from it.” From the Cloud Appreciation Society’s website. Put better than I ever could!
Feathery cirrus clouds a little further to the left.
And further to the left still the clouds appear to represent an eye.
Con trails. I do hope the planes passed at different times otherwise this looks like a near miss!
The right hand sundog – not as prettily shaped as the left.
Zooming in on the left hand sundog.
Zooming a bit closer – beautiful!.
Sundogs all over now, we’re treated to a stunning sunset.
I'd love to hear from you...
